This week we’re doing something a little different with our Happy Stampers blog hop. As many of you may have noticed, the founder of this hop, Sandi MacIver, hasn’t been able to join us for the last few weeks. She’s been dealing with some significant health issues and she’s having surgery today to start her treatment. We wanted to let Sandi know that we were all thinking of her, so we’ve all created a card using this weeks color challenge that will send a little hug her way. We’re looking forward to having Sandi join us again soon!
We had a color challenge today using Hello Honey, Old Olive, and Black. Today’s cards are in honor of our good friend Sandi. Sandi, you have taught me everything I know and I hope that is card represents the talent that you have shared with me as we created together. You are the most generous, giving person and I am blessed to call you my friend. This card is for you girlfriend! Get Well Soon.
Stampin Up Awesomely Artistic card for Sandi:
Here is the card recipe:
Card Base: Basic Black 4-1/4 x 11, scored at 5-1/2
Mat: Everyday Chic DSP 4 x 5-1/4 sponged with soft suede
Lots of Labels Framelits: large: Hello Honey, Medium: Basic Black, Small: Whisper White (sponged in soft suede)
The Details:
The Flower: I stamped the image from the Awesomely Artistic stamp set onto whisper white card stock with Staz on black ink. Using my blender pens and Hello Honey and Old Olive ink I colored in the flowers. I added a touch of soft suede to the centers to deepen them a bit and added tiny white dot with my white gel pen. Then the fun part…I fussy cut the image around the edges. The final touch was adding three hello honey flowers that I die cut from the Botanical Blooms set and sponged the edges with soft suede to add more depth. A sparkly rhinestone was added to complete the bouquet. I added some gold sequin trim and gold metallic thread and adhered it to my card.
The Sentiment: I used the sentiment from Perfect Pennants and stamped that in Black Memento ink. To add some” background noise” as Sandi would say, I stamped texture using Timeless Textures stamping off the colors once to soften the look. The inks used were Hello Honey, Old Olive and Soft Suede. When it was all inked up I ran it thought my big shot using the Gently Falling embossing folder.
More Details:
The Dragonfly: I stamped the dragonfly in Hello Honey and fussy cut that tiny little bug out. Soft Suedd was sponged around the edges for more dimension and the wings were colored with wink of stella. I know the camera does not catch the sparkle of the wink of stella but it is there and so very lovely.
Finishing touches: Using some hello honey paper I punched out one more flower from the botanical blooms framelits and added one last detail to the front of the card along with a few gold sequins.
The Inside:
When you have spent all that time making the outside just the way you want it, the inside should match. I added the same type of detail on the inside as I did on the sentiment art piece, there is a little surprise on the envelop too.
Well Sandi, in honor of you, I think I used the biggest variety of stamp sets and embellishments on this one card, this one is for you my friend. Get Well Soon.
