Welcome to our hop today and Happy July. I hope you all had fun celebrating the 4th of July. We had some friends over for a BBQ. What did you do over the weekend?
Today we have a sketch challenge. I changed some of the shapes to make it fit my idea for the card. Have fun, adapt these sketches to fit your ideas and most of all enjoy creating your cards.
Here is the sketch:
Stampin Up “Wherever You Go”
I switched the sketch up a bit. Making the circle into a square and the small circle in the center of the sketch is my compass embossed stamped image. I went a outside the box on this one but that is the fun of a sketch, it helps you have a starting point, but this is art! So go outside the box and have FUN.
Here is the card recipe:
Card base: Dapper Denim, 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 scored at 4-1/4
Mat: Whisper White 4-1/8 x 5-3/8 Embossed with the NEW Seaside Embossing Folder
Banner: Neutrals Designer Series Paper Pack 1-3/4 x 5-1/2 punched with the Triple Banner Punch
Square Mat: Gold Foil Sheet: 3-1/2 x 3-1/2
Mat: Dapper Denim 3-3/8 x 3-3/8
Art Piece: Whisper White 3-1/4 x 3-1/4
The Details:
The art piece:
Bridge : I used the stamps for the set Wherever You Go on this card starting with the bridge in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
Sun: I stamped the sun in the Crushed Curry ink and then with my sponge dauber, I sponged some Cajun Craze ink on the tips on the sun-rays. When you stamp it on the art piece you get a two toned sun!
Compass: I inked the image with Versa Mark ink and then heat embossed the image with gold embossing powder to make the image pop and add dimension.
Birds: Memento Tuxedo black ink
Water: Timeless Textures Stamp and Dapper Denim Ink made the water on this card.
More Details:
The bow: The Metallic Gold Thread wrapped many times around the matted art piece started my embellishments. After it was adhered, I looped some more gold thread around my fingers and then tied it off in the middle to make my bow. Glue dots sticks it on to the card.
Sentiment: Memento Black ink and the saying from the “Wherever You Go” stamp set is stamped and then die cut with the Tags and Labels Framelits and adhere with a glue dot under the know of the bow
The Bling: Gold Sequins and a few pearls complete this card.
The Inside:
Repeating the elements on the front of the card finish off the inside of my card.
