Happy Stampers Blog Hop:
Hi Stampers, it is Thursday again, is time going fast or what? Time for anther blog hop on this December day. Today was a sketch challenge, see the sketch below and then visit our teams blogs to see how we all created a card using the same sketch.
Here is the sketch:
Stampin Up “Vintage Leaves” turns into holly:
After using the Vintage Leaves stamp set this past fall, I thought to myself, the oak leave could pass as holly leaves for Christmas. So, I thought I would give it a try with this card for the blog hop. If I do say so myself, I think the oak leaves do a pretty good job of turning into holly. It makes me happy when we can get more use from our stamps than just one season. This set is proving to be very versatile.
Here is the card recipe:
Card base: real red 4-1/4 x 11 scored at 5-1/2
Mat: very vanilla embossed with the wood grain EF 4 x 5-1/4
Banners:
Home for the Holiday DSP: holly pattern 2-3/4 x 5-1/4,
Very vanilla embossed with gently fallin EF 2-1/4 x 4-3/4
Music paper: 2 x 4-5/8
Sentiment: vellum 1/2 x 4
Details:
The leaves were inked a stamped with Mossy Meadow with a touch of dazzling details added for sparkle. Gold sequins and a real red cotton bow were added for the finishing touches.
More Details:
The Sentiment was inked using the Holly Jolly Greeting stamps set with versa mark ink and then heat set with gold embossing powder. I added a few gold sequins around the card for the third touch of gold. I like to repeat color for good balance.
The Inside:
I completed the card by stamping more leaves in mossy meadow and added a real red joy from the Holly Jolly Greetings set.

WOW such a beautiful holiday card!!!! 😀
lovely job and you are right, the leaves make a great holiday card, beautifully done my friend.
Oh my goodness…beautiful Kristi! Love the use of the Vintage Leaves image for holly. Great colors and fantastic layering! 🙂
do you use glue on the sequin strips to keep them together after cutting?
Hi Mary, what I did on this card was put a glue dot on the last sequin, that hold all the sequins on the strand. Hope that helps
You’re right! They do look like Holly Leaves!! Great job, Kristi! 🙂
Such an ingenious idea with the leaves. It is a beautiful card-wow, I love how you added the gold to the leaves and the sequin bling is awesome!
Yes the leaves are Holly!!! Love the whole thing. The musical paper is a fav.
