Stampin’ Up! Perfectly Penciled Card for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Hi stampers and card makers, today for our hop we have a color challenge of Black, White and a color of our choice.  I wanted to use the Perfectly Penciled DSP and since it was black and white, I pondered what other color I should use. How does one decide when you have 50 colors to choose from?  Tahitian Tide was the color I landed on and what an uplifting color to use with the black and white theme.  It just pops, so bright and happy if you ask me.  After you are done looking at my blog, please stop by our other creative team members blogs to see what they created for you today.

The color challenge:

Stampin’ Up! Perfectly Penciled Card:

The recipe:

Card base: Basic White 5-1/2 x 8-1/2, scored at 4-1/4

Mat: Tahitian Tide 5-1/4 x 4

Embossed panel:  Basic White 5 x 3-3/4 Emboss with the folder of your choice. (I used the Timber EF)

Panel for your starburst technique: Basic White 5 x 2-7/8

The details:

The starburst:

  • Cut 4 different pieces of the Perfectly Penciled DSP (you will be using both sides) 1-1/2 x 4
  • Cut each of these pieces diagonally (you will end up with 8 pieces)
  • Adhere these pieces to the Basic White panel that measures 5 x 2-7/8, starting in the middle and working to the edges
  • After they are adhered trim down the DSP that hangs over the edges
  • Attach this panel to the Basic White 5 x 3-3/4 embossed panel with Stampin Seal or Liquid Glue
  • Wrap the Tahitian Tide Bakers Twine Thread 3 times around the panel where the starburst technique meets the embossed edge.  Secure with Stampin Seal

The flowers:

  • Find a flower cluster you like from the Perfectly Penciled DSP
  • Color in the flowers with your Tahitian Tide Stampin Blends
  • Color the leaves with your Granny Apple Green Stampin Blend
  • Fussy cut the flower cluster out with your paper snips

The Sentiment:

  • Stamp the sentiment with black ink onto a scrap piece of Basic White card stock using the saying from the Go to Greetings
  • die cut the sentiments with the Stylish Shape Dies

Putting the card together:

  • Attache the Tahitian Tide panel to the front of the card with Dimensionals
  • Attach the starburst panel to the Tahitian Tide panel with Dimensionals
  • Adhere your flower cluster to the center of the care with Dimensionals
  • Attach the sentiment to the bottom of the card with Dimensional
  • Add a double Tahitian Tide Bakers Twine bow to the center of the flower cluster with a glue dot
  • Color in some Rhinestones with the Tahitian Tide Stampin Blend and adhere to the front of the card here and there for some added sparkle
