Hi Stampers, Last week during our Happy Stampers Blog Hop I shared a card using the “Choose Happiness” stamp set. The color pallet was monochromatic and subtle. Today I want to share the same layout with a few minor changes. I picked up some old olive ink and added just a touch of color to my card. I like to show how you can change up the look and feel of a card just by using slightly different colors.
Stampin Up “Choose Happiness” in Old Olive:
Here is the card recipe:
Card Base: Soft Suede 5-1/2 x 8-1/2, scored at 4-1/4
Mat: Crumb Cake 4 x 5-1/4
Art Piece: Very Vanilla 3-7/8 x 5-1/8
Squares: 2 at 2 x 2 embossed with Gently Falling Embossing folder
Wood Banner: Very Vanilla inked in Soft Suede
Ribbons: Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon and Venetian Crochet trim and loops of Linen Thread.
The Details:
The Background: On the Very Vanilla art piece I inked the flower from “Choose Happiness stamp set in Crumb Cake and randomly stamped the flowers in the front. Then I inked the leaf stamp from the same set in old olive and filled in the empty spaces in between the flowers. Using more old olive ink and my blender pen I colored in the leaves
The Flowers: I made two flowers with very vanilla card stock inked in crumb and one in soft suede ink. Get out your scissors and fussy cut the flowers out. After you ink them up scrunch them up in a ball to wrinkle them up. Do this several times to break the fiber in the paper to make them soft. After then are nice and supple sponge the edges with soft suede ink. The center of the flower has a large pearl and some Wink of Stella for extra sparkle.
The Leaves: Using the Bird Builder Punch and old olive card stock I punch three sets of leaves and sponged them with more old olive ink. I tucked them up under the flower with glue dots to carry my green through out the card.
I added some Rhinestones and pearls here and there on the card to add more sparkle. Enjoy your finished card.
Here is the inside:
The inside: I inked one flower in soft suede and one in crumb cake and added some old olive leaves. That cute little birdie was inked in soft suede. All of the stamps were once again from the “Choose Happiness” stamp set.
Here is my other version of the card:
