Another Thursday and another blog hop for you all. Today was a sketch challenge. I must say this sketch was a bit tricky but I worked out the details for my design, I hope you enjoy my tone on tone card today.
Here is the sketch:
I decided to turn my sketch horizontal instead of vertical
Choose Happiness:
I started out with a card with big bold colors and it just wasn’t working for me so I pitched all the pieces and decided on a soft monochromatic card today. This stamp set just lends itself to a subtle design. That did not stop me from using a boat load of goodies on my card though. My dear friend Sandi and the head of our Blog Hop Team was my teacher. She taught me how to get lots of goodies on a card and make it work.
Here is the card recipe:
Card Base: Soft Suede 5-1/2 x 8-1/2, scored at 4-1/4
Mat: Crumb Cake 4 x 5-1/4
Art Piece: Very Vanilla 3-7/8 x 5-1/8
Banner: Soft Suede 1 x 5-1/8
Squares: 2 at 2 x 2 embossed with Gently Falling Embossing folder
Tag: very vanilla inked with the Tip Top Taupe using the wood stamp from “Choose Happiness” and cut with the banner framelits
Sentiment: 1/2 x 3-1/2 inked and sponged with soft suede.
Ribbons: Tip Top Taupe lace ribbon and Crumb Cake satin ribbon and gold metallic thread.
The Details:
The Background: On the Very Vanilla art piece I inked the flower from “Choose Happiness stamp set in Crumb Cake and randomly stamped the flowers in the front. Then I inked the leaf stamp from the same set in old olive and filled in the empty spaces in between the flowers. Using more old olive ink and my blender pen I colored in the leaves
The Flowers: I made two flowers with very vanilla card stock inked in crumb and one in soft suede ink. Get out your scissors and fussy cut the flowers out. After you ink them up scrunch them up in a ball to wrinkle them up. Do this several times to break the fiber in the paper to make them soft. After then are nice and supple sponge the edges with soft suede ink. The center of the flower has a gold metallic button tied with some metallic thread.
I added some gold sequin, basic pearls here and there on the card to add more sparkle. Enjoy your finished card.
Here is a look at the inside:
The inside: I inked one flower in soft suede and one in crumb cake and added some soft suede leaves. That cute little birdie was inked in soft suede. All of the stamps were once again from the “Choose Happiness” stamp set.
Enjoy!
